Where were you on November 4th?
November 17, 2008 by admin
Seems so long ago doesn’t it?
Years from now we will ask ourselves this question and we will all brag to our kids and the misfortunate ones that missed this 4th day of November 2008. This is the day in history that will always be remembered. Barack Obama became the first black president of the United States.
Electing Barack Obama as president represents growth in America. This country has grown leaps and bounds from the torment of slavery. 400+ years ago, even 30 years ago this was an unforeseeable event. This event fulfilled the hopes of Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We have taken the necessary steps to truly becoming equal. Barack Obama was not judged by the color of his skin. He was judged by the content of his character and what he could offer our wonderful country.
I, personally, will always remember and cherish this day. This event represents change. In my estimation this country has suffered too long under the Bush administration. Innocent lives are being lost; millions of lives were ruined because of these tragic deaths. We’ve suffered the worst economic crisis in the history of the United States. Millions of families are affected due to lost wages and rising gas prices, foods and basic necessities. The look of depression and hopelessness appeared to be the face of America. I know that Barack Obama will change the direction and outlook of this country.
This event is sure to go down in history as one the most memorable moments right along with Dr. Kings Death and President Kennedy’s assassination. Everyone will always remember where they were when Barack Obama defeated the odds by becoming the First African American President of the United States of America. The young to the elderly voters came out to show their support for President Barack Obama by electing him president. There were concerts, videos on youtube, door to door solicitors all supporting Barack Obama.
Hopefully, this change will get our troops out of Iraq as Obama promises. We don’t need any more innocent lives taken. I am confident that President Barack Obama will work hard to help our economy recover back to full strength as well. Too many families have suffered to allow this to go on. It was essential that we elect a president who could feel the same pain that millions of Americans felt. We know that Barack Obama felt that same pain and will to do something about it. That is why Barack Obama is the next President of the United States. I truly believe that you will restore the faith, our hopes and dreams of all Americans who showed their support for you.
President Obama, you’re ready to lead and we’re ready to follow.
