Roger Ebert says it’s a realistic portrayal of life in rural South Carolina in 1964, “The Secret Life of Bees” is dreaming. As a parable of hope and love, it is enchanting.

The Secret Life of Bees is based on a novel by American author Sue Monk Kidd is produced by holywood power couple Will Smith and executive produced by Jada Pinkett-Smith.

I was privileged to be invited to the preview and it’s definitely my new top movie of the year. Just remember ladies to bring you bring your tissues.

The movie is set in South Carolina in the early 60’s, it’s the story of a little girl name Lily Owens, a 14-year-old girl who is haunted by the memory of her late mother. Her troubled relationship with her dad and her lonely life, she runs away with Rosaleen, her caregiver and close friend, to a South Carolina town that holds the secret to her mother’s past. She then was taken in by the Boatwright sisters. I can’t tell you anymore or I’ll ruin it. Just go see it.

The Queen was fabulous of course. Jennifer is a natural. Sophie Okonedo is a wonder why we don’t see her more often and  Alicia Keys a natural triple threat.
