The Life and Legacy of Malcolm X
May 19, 2009 by admin
Interesting story by David Bradley, author of The Chaneysville Incident, about the life and legacy of Malcolm X, on what would have been his 84th birthday.
In the piece, Bradley ponders the questions, “How has his legacy changed in the years since his commanding presence led dark suited black men in marches, antagonizing Martin Luther King Jr.’s passive resistance? Has Malcolm’s rejection of the violent and ersatz theology of Elijah Muhammad been appropriately factored in to his legacy? Is there still room for the lessons of identity and change that his life taught in our supposedly “post-racial” America?”
