Rapper NAS titled his CD the “N” word
October 15, 2008 by F. Gerald
We have just been taken back 50 years folks just because of an irresponsible industry filled with greed and a lack of common sense.
Why would black executive allow an artist to label their work “NIGGER”? When asked about the title, here is NAS response.
“I wanna make the word easy on mutha—-as’ ears,” he explained. “You see how white boys ain’t mad at ‘cracker’ ’cause it don’t have the same [sting] as ‘nigger’? I want ‘nigger’ to have less meaning [than] ‘cracker.’ With all the bullsh– that’s going on in the world, racism is at its peak. I wanna do the sh– that’s not being done. I wanna be the artist who ain’t out. I wanna make the music I wanna hear.
“We’re taking power [away] from the word,” he added. “No disrespect to none of them who were part of the civil-rights movement, but some of my n—as in the streets don’t know who [civil-rights activist] Medgar Evers was. I love Medgar Evers, but some of the n—as in the streets don’t know Medgar Evers, they know who Nas is. And to my older people who don’t now who Nas is and who don’t know what a street disciple is, stay outta this mutha—-in’ conversation. We’ll talk to you when we’re ready. Right now, we’re on a whole new movement. We’re taking power [away] from that word.”
What? Even if it made sense, it doesn’t make sense. I had to read this 6 times just to make a complete sentence out of it. This is where our tax dollars are going folks. It’s English at its finest.
This moron actually name names. Medgar Evers? I don’t think Evers would appreciate being named by you sir.
You are what keep us down. You are why we’re disrespected daily. You are why we have to try 10 times as hard to prove ourselves. You are why they think that we are all alike. You are pure scum for naming your CD the “N” word and the folks that support you are lower than scum.
I will nail a picture of you in my kid’s room to remind them daily that this is what they never should become.
I just have one more thing to say. If you spend your good hard earn money to buy this album, you’re simply supporting the degradation of our race.

I think the response to Nas album title is a little too harsh. Nas is one of the most respected and influential rapper. He raps on issues that are rarely spoken about in hip hop today. Although he is not great at elaborating his point of view, his current album addresses varies topics that is currently
effecting the African American community. I don’t think he did the right thing initially naming his CD “NIGGER” but rap music still needs a voice like Nas to shed light on those who don’t have a clue on what is going on in our struggling inner cities.

Excuse me sir but please stop. Nas may have been damn near stupid to call his CD Nigger(but it seems like he did it to get more buzz for it, stirring up controversy, like 50 Cent) but hes not scum. His raps have meaning, and if u actually listened to previous work, or the CD itself, you’d see what I mean.
