President Obama reaching out to Muslims
February 9, 2009 by admin
As controversial as it may sound the President wants to reach out to other adversary countries to avoid future conflicts.
The President has made it clear that the approach will differently compared to the other strategies done before. Not only it would be different in style and in tone but in substance at the same time.
Recently, President Barack Obama chose an Arab network so that he can convey his message that the Americans are not their enemies. When he said this, Obama is trying to end what’s been done in the past.
Although the substance of what President Obama said may take some time before the shift happens, the symbolism of his action conveyed an immediate message. Moreover, it is likely that it will be reinforced with his early visit to the Muslim nation.
The Obama administration is seeing a great deal which is at stake. And this deal is not just about the Arab-Israeli peace. This also includes the boarder struggle with the Islamic extremism. This is what the previous administration called as the “global war on terrorism.”
This extends up to the Afghans as well as Central Asia where there are launching opportunities for terrorism.
According to Denis McDonough, President Barack Obama is very convinced that reaching out to the Muslim countries and communities in different parts of the world is not just vital but he considered it as urgent at the same time.
McDonough, the deputy assistant mentioned that the United States is still one of the countries that are under threat. And one of the challenges of the Obama administration is to reach to the thousands and even billions of Muslims while making it clear that hate must not be tolerated.
