President Obama listens to his military Chiefs

President Barack Obama have heard the different opinions of the four military service chiefs of the United States. The people at the White House said that this is a step that would help the President fulfil his promise of withdrawing the combat troops that are still in Iraq.
The service Chiefs have expressed their concerns regarding the impact of the Iraq war tours in the military of United States. Aside from President Barack Obama and the four military service chiefs, there are also other participants as well including the uniformed military advisers of the president, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and its vice chairman. Moreover, Defense Secretary Robert Gates will also be at the Pentagon during the afternoon meeting as well.
According to the press secretary of White House, Robert Gibbs, President Barack Obama is already looking forward for the meeting. He is eagerly waiting for all the issues and the topics that the service chiefs will have to say.During the presidential campaign, Barack Obama pledged that he will remove the combat troops in Iraq on or before May 2010. However, he also said that he would first consult the military commanders. It may also be necessary that he would adjust the timeline he said before if in case it would put the safety of the U.S. troops at risk. The timeline may also be adjusted if it would make Iraq more unstable.The president also wants the Pentagon to shift its focus in order to prioritize more important things such as the troubled Afghanistan.
Robert Gibbs also mentioned that Robert Gates has a goal of placing Barack Obama in front of everyone who is involved in the decision making so that the president will be helped in deciding what he would do with the troops in Iraq.
