According to Mr. Najib Balala, the tourism minister of Kenya, the country’s tourism industry will eventually feel the impact of the financial crisis that is currently happening all over the world.

But Mr. Najib Balala recently said in an interview that it might be the low revenue areas of the industry that will be greatly affected by the said crisis. In the same interview, he also mentioned that the Cabinet will soon discuss the different ways on how they could cushion the tourism sector from the crisis’s effects. They are expected to discuss the problem on their next meeting.

During the official launch of the Ani-Tour System, the Kenya’s Tourism Minister said that he is planning to meet the tour operators in Mombasa this coming weekend. This is to talk about the various ways on how they could prepare for the impact so that they would be able to handle adequately the effects of the global financial crisis.

The tour operators in Kenya will also get to discuss with Mr. Najib Balala the ways on how they could handle the issue of the tourist destinations’ image and how they could brand the beach spots whose tourism is currently not doing very well.

Aside from that, he also mentioned that the surging high costs of important commodities such as fuel, food, and more would certainly affect the tourism industry. The lack of credit access in most parts of Kenya may contribute as well.

The crisis in the economy is currently not just being felt by countries in Africa but countries that have stable economies as well including United Kingdom and United States.

On the other hand, the Tourism Minister discussed what the Ani-Tour System is and how it could help boost the tourism sector of Kenya, hopefully. It is a camera system that is mounted on the safari vehicle’s roofs in order to take photos easily especially in places where there are local and foreign visitors such as the parks.

The Ani-Tour System is made up of different monitors and cameras that are installed inside the safari vehicle as well. Through this, the tourists will get to watch the photos taken from outside the vehicle as it is being transmitted to the monitors where they can watch.

The camera that was imported from Korea can take the different views as it can be rotated up to 360 degrees. Furthermore, it will also record the videos and photos in compact discs so that the tourists will get to have a unique souvenir that they could take along with them.
