Colin Powell endorses Obama: Who Cares!
October 19, 2008 by F. Gerald
The distinguished Colin Powell just announced his support for Obama. Who cares! Is what the Republicans are saying this Sunday morning? What else can they say?
Obama possesses an “ability to inspire” and praised the “inclusive nature of his campaign” while showing “steadiness” in the rigors of the long presidential campaign says Powell. Powell also said that he questioned the judgment of Republican nominee Sen. John McCain of Arizona in his choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate and was “disappointed” in his campaign tactics of trying to tie Obama to former 1960s radical William Ayers.
Although Powell said that he will not campaign for Obama because he remains a Republican. He made it cleared that McCain’s choices throughout his campaign trail have not helped him at all, including his choice for a Vice-President. Powell went to say that Palin is not ready to be President as it is the job of a Vice-President.
Why is this big you may ask? Well…for the Republicans this is a big shock, because Powell, a Republican is a long time friend of John McCain. Until right before the announcement, they actually thought that Powell would support McCain. Not sure why, but they can hope I guess.
McCain played down the announcement by simply saying…”Well, I have always admired and respected General Powell. We are longtime friends. This doesn’t come as a surprise (what does he mean there, I wonder). But I am also very pleased to have the endorsement of four former secretaries of state … and I am proud to have the endorsement of well over 200 retired army generals and admirals,” McCain said, noting the support offered by Henry Kissinger, James Baker, Lawrence Eagleburger and Alexander Haig. (who the hell are those people again?)
Powell also said that he is disgusted by the “vitriol, bile and prejudice” aimed at Obama on the campaign trail.

It goes to show you how bad Bush and the Republicans must be. Now, here is a well respected man, who worked under the Bush Administration as a Republican, but is now endorsing Obama, a Democrat. That should tell America something!
